The PNSA team of 14 athletes including 11 from the Bend Nordic Team just returned from a 5 day camp with the Far West Division in remote Northern California. The camp was comprised of 25 athletes and 4 coaches. The group based out of the quaint town of Orleans on the Klamath River, home of Sasquatch and Salmon. Both of which the town takes very seriously. Our hosts at the Klamath RV Park proudly boasted that there have been 59 confirmed encounters around Orleans, including the famous footage of a Yeti walking perpendicular to the camera that we have all seen on the Discovery Channel. Our days were filled with incredibly difficult roller ski roads and rock jumping into myriad pools on the Cal-Salmon River. The final day concluded with a scramble up Russian Peak in the Marble Mountain Wilderness. Thanks to Gene and Lori Fitzsimmons for the food prep and baked goodies!
