We offer a variety of cycling programs for ages 8 – 18.

Programs by Date
- March 15 through December 12 – Competition
- June 7 – August 12 – Development
- June 22 – August 26 – Mighty Bikes
Enrollment is open, meaning your child may join at any time with pro-rated tuition.
Disciplines
Cross Country Mountain Bike (XC):
- Bikes with gears and wheels must be at least 20″ in diameter
- Suspension is not required, but front suspension is recommended for those with advanced skills or who are 12+
- Develops aerobic fitness, trail riding skills, technical handling, balance, power.
- Become independent, self-reliant and capable of negotiating all types of terrain
Road:
- Best for ages 13 and up given we’re riding on public roads
- Ride as a group for teamwork, technique and safety
- Develops pedaling efficiency, pack-riding skills, aggressive bike handling, a working understand of traffic laws
- Become independent at an earlier age than a driver’s license allows
- USA Cycling’s Elite/Junior Road Race Championships will be held in Bend again in June, 2010
Freeride (FR):
- Focuses on riding man-made and enhanced natural features
- Develops jumping and stunt riding through proper progressions
- Many types of bikes are appropriate, check with a coach to see if yours will work.
- Enhance strength, mental focus, fitness and persistence
Track:
- Travel to the Alpenrose Dairy
- The track is the best place to develop all types of cyclists
- Develop anaerobic power and aerobic endurance, pedaling efficiency, time trial pacing, pack-riding skills
- Compete in multiple races in one evening within an enclosed, safe venue
Cyclocross (CX):
- Began as a cross-training exercise for road racers in Europe during the off-season
- Currently one of the fastest growing sports in the world
- Oregon leads the nation for cyclocross races and number of racers per capita
- Bend hosts the 2010 National Cyclocross Championships in December
- CX bikes do not have suspension and use skinny, knobby tires
- For our program, any bike that can be carried on the rider’s shoulder over an obstacle will do
- Courses are short, closed and setup on a variety of surfaces
- Develops race tactics, strength, power, technical cornering and handling skills, mental toughness and is tons of fun!
