Cyclocross Team
Regular Season: September 11 to November 18, 2012
Nationals Extension: November 27, 2012 to January 6, 2013
Ages 10 – 18
Cross riders develop a love for riding bikes in all conditions over all types of terrain. Cyclocross is a race-based discipline. Beginner participants may use mountain bikes without much disadvantage and once they decide to pursue it for a full season then getting a cyclocross bike makes sense. There are some unique skills needed for cyclocross and our training makes learning those skills fun and easy.
Cyclocross courses are challenging but accessible, race support is provided easily by the coaches and the positive energy of the events is contagious.

Our team’s success comes from weekly training sessions and traveling together almost every weekend to events across the Northwest so our riders develop strong friendships while becoming more competent cyclists.
- Beginner to Advanced Racers
- Must be willing to compete in at least the local events
- Choose 1, 2, or 3 days of mid-weeks practice
- Race or group ride for everyone every weekend
- Travel to all High School Series, most Junior Series & Cross Crusade Races
- Special Guest Riders and Coaches
- Junior specific training program to prevent injury and burnout
- Team travel to races promotes more racing and friendships with other riders across the state
- Group and Individual training plans
- Power testing for Full Time riders
- Prepare for USGP & Cyclocross Nationals
Program Dates and Options
- Regular Season: September 11 to November 18, 2012
- Extended Season: November 20 to January 13, 2013 – included in Full Time Tuition but can be added to Regular Season, this includes individual training plans for USGP Finals, Nationals.
- Tuesdays will be longer “trail rides” around town and on mixed terrain and will focus on fitness over skills. A must for serious racers and Full Time riders.
- Best Choice for 1 or 2 Day/Week: Wednesday is when we focus most on skills and get to practice real so make this day your priority.
- Next best choice for 2 Day/Week: Thursdays we will attend the Thrilla Series in September and then practice will vary for the rest of the season.
- Weekends – everyone should be at the group ride or in the van for the race
- Plan ahead for Race Entry fees – juniors range from $5 – $25 per race but you can often save money by pre-registering or signing up for an entire series

Team Races & Trips
- Coaching and support at all Bend races are part of practice for everyone.
- Race entry fees are NOT included. For example, if a rider chooses 1 Mid-week Practice and they attend on Tuesday, they are still able to come to the Thrilla Race on Thursday to be supported and coached by the staff.
- Away Races are open to everyone.
- Transportation costs range from $20 – $30 per trip
- Race entry fees are NOT included in tuition or trip costs
- Riding in the Van: team travel is integral to our success, therefore we encourage all of our riders to choose the van first. Traveling with family and friends to the race is great, too, but it’s harder for us to integrate you into the team and riders miss out on the social aspect of the trips. Ride in the van to save money on fuel and don’t stress about driving. If we have open space, family and friends who are also racing at the event are welcome to join us in the van. Check with Bill about this.
