This is a 14 foot Great Auk built by the spring 2011 COCC Community Learning Class under the guidance of local boatbuilder Greg Bridges.
With a 24 inch beam, it is the perfect little kayak for our local lakes and rivers, with high initial stability for beginner to intermediate paddlers. Check out Guillemot kayaks for more details on the design.
Made of Western Red Cedar with Peruvian Walnut stripes and Basswood fill then wrapped with epoxied fiberglass, it weights in at just 31 pounds. It is light enough for a single person to put on a roof-top rack. Three layers of 2-part flexible UV clear coat have been added for extra durability. It comes with a custom Redfish seat and is ready for launch. A great boat for exploring our waters and looking your best in the PPP.
Estimated value is $8,000.
